For me email means more than just a few words written on a white screen (or sometimes decorative screen for those more creative). It means kids can get to know their grandparents, joys and sorrows can be shared before the details of the feelings/experience can be lost and connections can be sustained. We have only just finished up language school and are one month on the field and I already have given many praises to God for the invention of email. I hope I can say this without more experienced field staff saying, "We did not have all this fancy stuff when we were out in the field - now those were the days". Well, I am a product of my generation and occasionally having email makes the difference between loving living in a third world country and having effective ministry or getting on a plane to go home. Upon our arrival in Papua, I was diagnosed with diabetes. It has been the ability to communicate with doctors, nurses and family via email that has allowed us to begin the job He has for us. In this ever changing world our methods used to reached the unreached is changing and so is the way we communicate. I say "bring it on".
