If you are looking for secure, private e-mail service and you already have an Internet connection, MAFnet U.S. service may be a good solution for you. Your e-mail will reside on a protected server in the U.S. which you can access with any standard e-mail software, or with a web browser.

Instructions

** Instructions for leaving a copy of e-mail on the server **

Outlook 2002 or 2003

  • Go to Tools > E-mail Accounts
  • Select ‘View or change existing e-mail account’
  • Click Next
  • Click on your e-mail account to highlight it
  • Click the Change button
  • Click the More Settings button
  • Click the Advanced tab
  • If you have a check beside ‘Leave a copy of messages on the server,’ make sure the option is set to remove messages from the server after 7 days or less.

Outlook 2000 or Outlook Express

  • Go to Tools > Accounts
  • Under the Mail tab click on your e-mail account to highlight it – Click the Properties button
  • Click the Advanced tab
  • If you have a check beside ‘Leave a copy of messages on the server,’ make sure the option is set to remove messages from the server after 7 days or less.

Thunderbird

  • Go to Tools > Accounts
  • Under the name of your maf.net account, click on ‘Server Settings’
  • In the pane on the right, if you have a check beside ‘Leave messages on server’, make sure the box is checked to leave messages on server for 7 days or less.

Entourage

  • Go to Tools > Accounts
  • Click on the name of your maf.net account and click ‘Edit’
  • Click on the Options tab
  • If you have a check beside ‘Leave a copy of each message on the server’, make sure the option is set to delete the message from the server after 7 days or less.

*Note: We still only provide support for Outlook and Outlook Express, but we have included instructions for Thunderbird and Eudora due to the importance of this issue.

**Instructions for logging into webmail interface**

  1. Go to http://mail.maf.net and log in with your user name and password.
  2. Click on the ‘Mailboxes’ link in the upper left corner of the page.
  3. Click on the link for any of the mailboxes that have mail in them, and delete whatever mail is not needed. Mail is deleted in two steps. First you need to select messages for deletion, and click on the ‘Set’ button beside the icon of an envelope with a red X over it. Second, you will need to click on the ‘Purge Deleted’ button.
